Fulgentius

Born in North Africa, he became a monk early in life and was elected abbot. He had to flee from the Vandal persecution. In 502 or 507 he was chosen Bishop of Ruspe but was again exiled by the Vandals. He spent his exile in Sardinia where he wrote numerous works which still exist. He returned to Africa in 523.
